With each passing month in the year 2025, the SASSA beneficiaries under the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) are being reminded of the upcoming expiration of their SASSA Gold Cards through these very cards. The cards are vital for the distribution of the Old Age, Child Support, and Disability Grants which are the monthly payments to the beneficiaries. In case your card is nearing its expiry date, you have to renew your payment details without delay as it will guarantee your uninterrupted access to the funds. The next procedure is explained below in detail.
Expiry of the SASSA Gold Card
The SASSA Gold Card is a Postbank’s product and mainly serves as a payment card for millions of grant recipients. Yet, the cards have an expiration date on their front side. On the specified day, the card is no longer valid for cash withdrawal at ATMs, purchase at stores, or payment receipt.
SASSA and Postbank have joined forces to make card replacement less of a hassle; however, the number of beneficiaries is such that the replacement process would not be fast enough for all to receive new cards simultaneously. Consequently, it is a good practice for beneficiaries to check the expiration date of their cards and take the necessary actions well ahead of time so that they will not experience any delay in receiving their payments.
Who Needs To Update Their Details
All Gold Card holders whose cards expiration is in October, November, or December 2025, or who have already expired, should proceed to update their payment details without delay. This notice goes out to the entire list of SASSA grants’ beneficiaries listed below:
- Old Age Grant
- Disability Grant
- Child Support Grant
- Foster Care Grant
- SRD (R370) Grant holders
Easier banks-to-cards payments for grant recipients need not panic as their money will automatically get credited to the active bank account.
