It is from October 2025 being near; those going for Social Relief of Distress / SRD aid grant, formerly called R350 grant, would like to know when payment will be effected and how to track the payment. A clear guide is presented below along with what should be expected, how to follow one’s payment status, and some tips on how to avoid delays to payment.
What Is the SRD Grant & Its Latest Status?
- While the SRD grant is a form of temporary assistance designated for unemployed persons who do not receive any other form of social grant and who have satisfied the means tests thus prescribed
- Later on, in April 2024, it was raised from R350 to R370 by R20 for every approved month.
- The amount that will actually be paid between installments in the year 2025 will be R370 even though it is popularly referred to as an R350 grant.
- Unlike other social grants that usually achieve pay-out towards the end of every month, the SRD Grant goes through its remit cycle.
Payment Dates Set for 2025 October
In SRD payments, unlike the old-age, disability, and child grants, funds are usually disbursed during the last week of the month. Therefore, SGR payments have been scheduled for disbursement from the 27th to the 31st of October 2025. The SRD now works on a different scheme whereby funds are dispersed almost at the end of the month, contrary to other grants that are paid at the beginning of the month.By now, you should have learned that a full-day pattern can differ for any beneficiary, depending on the date of application approval, banking verification, or sometimes even eKYC clearance.
Tracking Your SRD Payment
Keep on checking your application and payments with the following:
1. Checking Status of the Formal SRD/SASSA Website.
- Go to srd.sassa.gov.za, then under the “Check Status,” section:
- Enter your 13 digits South African ID number and cell number used at the application;
- Once you have submitted the form, you will be able to see whether your status is Approved, Pending, Declined, or Referred.
2.With WhatsApp / SMS / Phone
- Send a WhatsApp message to 082 046 8553(Sassa official line) with the word “STATUS” or follow the prompts for instructions. This is information only; it is not a status checking portal.
- You may check your status by sending an SMS to the above number. Usually, one is required to send an ID through SMS.
- The other choice is to make a toll-free call at 0800 60 10 11 and ask for SRD status with ID to be assisted directly.
3. Regional / Local SASSA Offices
Should one insist on face-to-face help, one may walk into any regional or local office. Remember to carry your ID and the mobile number with which you registered during application. They will assist in checking status.
Tips to Avoid Delays and Secure Payment
- Check and confirm all bank details (account number, branch, account type);
- Keep your mobile number and personal information current;
- Keep your eyes on message offerings from SASSA, which will inform you when it is due for payment;
- Always respond immediately to requests for documents;
- Avoid approaching collection points before confirming via status check — this prevents unnecessary travel or queues.
