  • Older Persons (75+): R2,335 per month

  • SRD (Social Relief of Distress): R370 per month 

These are the amounts that will take effect at the beginning of October 2025. The next possible rounds of increases may be indicated in the Medium Term Budget or SASSA’s official communications.

What to Expect and Tips for Beneficiaries

  • Take Your Time Receiving the Money: The payment dates have just been announced and the days mentioned earlier are the days when the beneficiaries can start using the money. To avoid extra problems, the beneficiaries are advised not to be the first ones at the payment points, as they can draw the money at any time in the payment period.

  • Contract: The main factor regarding the Postbank contract expiration is the October 2025 date, which is just about two years away. There are more than two million people in the country that rely on Postbank for collecting their social grants so that interruptions and delays in the payment process are very likely to happen unless the contract is timely extended or renewed. It is recommended that the Postbank customers switch to a reputable bank if possible to mitigate the risk of non-payment.

  4. Report unauthorized deductions — only one deduction per month up to 10% is legally allowed, and only with your consent.
