Big news for South Africans! The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced a special bonus payment for October 2025 which will be paid out to millions of people. The main purpose of the additional sum is to ease the financial burden of grant beneficiaries as the cost of living rises. The bonus will be credited automatically to those who are eligible along with their monthly payments, thus eliminating the separate application process.
Beneficiaries need to make sure their bank and contact information is up to date with SASSA, in order to receive the payment without any hiccups. Any old or wrong data could result in a delay of both the regular and bonus payments.
Who Gets The October 2025 Bonus?
The October bonus is applicable to all the active holders of SASSA grants, on the condition that their accounts have been good for a minimum of three months. The grants covered are the Old Age, Disability, Child Support, Foster Care, Care Dependency, War Veterans, and Social Relief of Distress (SRD R370) grants.
On the other hand, the people whose grants are being reviewed, suspended, or lately sanctioned after October will not be given the bonus. Those applicants who are outside the country or who do not comply with the income requirements for their specific grant will also not benefit from the bonus.
October 2025 Payment Schedule
SASSA will pay the bonus along with the regular grant payments for October time. The payment schedule is as follows:
- Old Age Grant – 5 October 2025
- War Veterans Grant – 5 October 2025
- Disability Grant – 6 October 2025
- Care Dependency Grant – 6 October 2025
- Child Support and Foster Care Grants – 7 October 2025
- SRD R370 Grant – Payments begin from 10 October 2025
All the payments will entail the extra bonus, and they will be credited straight into the same account that regular grant deposits use—be they via bank transfers, SASSA cards, or approved pay points.
Bonus Amounts For Each Type Of Grant
The Types of Grant determine the bonus amounts:
- Old Age, Disability, and Care Dependency Grants: R500 bonus
- War Veterans Grant: R500 bonus
- Child Support Grant: R250 bonus
- Foster Care Grant: R300 bonus
- SRD R370 Grant: R150 bonus (total R520 for October)

Beneficiaries should check their bank details, phone number, and card validity by the end of the first week of October to prevent delay in payments. Those requiring to change their details can either do so at the nearest SASSA office or through the official SASSA online portal.
SASSA has cautioned the public not to be deceived by con men who lure people by saying they are operatives that quicken the payment or approval process for bonuses. All official distributions are carried out automatically and are exempt from any charges.
