SASSA has made it known that from the 25th of October, 2025, beneficiaries will be receiving two distinct grant payments during a “double week” as to ensure that payments reach the households before the holiday season. Instead of one payment for the whole month, the first payment will be made at the beginning of the week and the second one will be made at the end of the week. This program is aimed at minimizing the delays that usually happen as a result of bank congestion or system failure; these delays are particularly problematic in times when a large number of people depend on grants to meet their basic needs.
Grant beneficiaries should check their bank account details and payment status beforehand through SASSA’s official channels in order to avoid failed or late transfers.
Payment Schedule: Who Gets Paid When
According to the payment schedule that has been announced, the payments will be carried out in groups, based on the type of grant: the older people’s and the disability grants will be first, then the child support grants and the SRD will come last. The exact distribution is as follows:
- Older Persons Grant: 25 October & 28 October
- Disability Grant: 26 October & 29 October
- Child Support Grant: 27 October & 30 October
- SRD (R370) Grant: 25 October & 31 October
All payments will be available at ATMs, retail outlets, Postbank cards, or direct transfers to banks, according to the beneficiary’s preference—and the transfer of money will happen without any deductions or additional costs.
Who Qualifies & What You Need to Do
If you want to benefit from the double payouts, you must first be a verified and active SASSA beneficiary and have the correct banking details on file. This covers not only the elderly and disabled but also parents who receive grants and SRD grants. If you have applied but are yet to be confirmed or if your bank details are wrong, then you might not receive the full payment or any at all.
To make sure that does not happen to you, get in touch with SASSA’s help desk or go to the nearest office to you before the payment period and have your account checked.
The Rationale & Benefits
Double payout is one of the approaches that the government has resorted to in helping the poor fight through the hard times caused by high prices. This will help particularly the poor families and individuals to cope a little bit easier with the living costs and even makes it up for the past delays in grant payments. Moreover, it would discourage people from crowding the payment points. The government, though, has warned that it might be a one-off or a temporary measure but if the conditions remain tough, then it will be a regular thing.
SASSA begs all beneficiaries to check their account balances and payment status from 25 to 31 October.
