SASSA Old Age Grant October 2025: New Rates, Payment Schedule & How To Confirm Amount

In light of the recent presidential announcement, SASSA will provide the official communication regarding the disbursement of social grants in October 2025. A minimum increase of R10 per month will be allocated for each grant recipient.

Which Grants & Amounts Are Affected?

The R10 increase will impact all major types of grants, namely the older person’s grant, disability and care dependency grants. The revised amounts are:

  • 60 to 74 years: Grant increases to R 3,230 (previously R 2,180)
  • 75 years and above: Grant increases to R 3,250 (previously R 2,200)
  • Disability & care dependency: These grants also increase to R 3,230
  • Foster care grant: Increased from R 1,180 to R 1,230
  • Child Support Grant: Up from R 530 to R 550

The listed amounts are merely the ones for the basic and general increase—the specified increase is not inclusive of any additional or special increases.

Who Will Get the Increase?

The raise is going to be granted only to current SASSA beneficiaries. In addition, to be eligible you must be at least 60 years of age (for the older person’s grant), be legally residing in South Africa and be below the means test limit. The important point is that fresh applicants will not be considered for the R10 increment—it is reserved solely for those already receiving grants.

SASSA will release the social grant payment dates for October 2025 to the public through their official channels.

The October 2025 SASSA payout schedule showcases the different payout dates depending on the type of grant:

  4. Late payments / catch-up: October 13
