Double Payment Schedule for October 2025
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has revealed the below possible payment dates for October 2025:
- Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 1 October 2025
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 2 October 2025
- Children’s Grants: Thursday, 3 October 2025
It is anticipated that the second payment (make-up) will take place between the 15th and the 20th of October 2025. The specific date will still depend on the batch of a recipient’s application and the depository bank. Bank account holders may receive their payment a little earlier compared to those who make withdrawals from ATMs or Postbank branches when the money hits the respective bank’s routes.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants for the SASSA funds will only be able to receive the benefit if the total amount paid out by SASSA is R3,070. This is subject to a set of SASSA eligibility criteria which are listed below:
- It is only when they are a citizen, permanent resident, or refugee of South Africa with the right to stay in the country within the law, then the applicant is eligible for the assistance.
- Possession of a valid South African ID is required.
- Belonging to the means test categories (e.g., under R96,840 annual income for the case of a single pensioner) is also an eligibility requirement.
- In the case of the old age grant, only if the person is 65 years or older; and in the case of the disability grant, only if it is the case of medically confirmed disabilities.
