SASSA R350 Grant October 2025 Payment Update: Check Eligibility, Status & Payday Details

What has now become the R370 grant under South Africa’s Social Relief of Distress (SRD) programme was formerly known as the R350 grant, following an adjustment in 2024. Furthermore, during the 2025 Budget Speech, the government talked about the SRD grant being continued until the end of March 2026. So, the older sources referring to “R350 grant” should be construed considering these developments, i.e., the old name is now linked to the newer amount of R370.

October 2025 Payment Window And Timing

In contrast to fixed social grants, which can be received on specific dates, SRD payments are disbursed in a window towards the end of the month. For October 2025, there are reports from multiple sources that the SRD (R370) payments will be done between the 27th and the 31st of October. The SRD payments will be staggered, so your specific date for the payment inside that window will be determined by your processing batch, verification status, and system workflows.

On the other hand, the fixed social grants (old age, disability, child support) continue to follow the earlier and fixed cross dates:

  • Old Age Grant: 2 October
  • Disability Grant: 3 October
  • Child & Other Grants: 6 October

Eligibility Criteria For The SRD (R370) Grant

It is very important to meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible:

  • You must be a South African citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or permit holder
  • Be in the age group of 18 to 59
  • Not have any other social grant (e.g. old age, disability, child support) at the same time
  • Have no formal or regular income—i.e. unemployed or dependent financially
  • Qualify the income limit (historically around R624 per month, but the exact amount may vary)
  • Not be residing in a government institution (e.g. prison, rehab facility)

You have to go through verification by SASSA which is followed by passing these checks before you are approved for a payment.

How To Check Your SRD Payment Status

Different batches and verifications usually cause the differences in SRD payments thus it is very important to check your status regularly. Below are the common methods:

  • SASSA / SRD official website: Input your ID and registered mobile number to view your status (approved, pending, declined)
  • USSD code: Call *120*3210# or *120*69277# and listen to the instructions to know your SRD status
  • WhatsApp: Add 082 046 8553 to your contacts, text “STATUS”, then give your ID for an update
  • SASSA call centre: 0800 60 10 11 (toll-free number) (have your ID and application data ready)
  • SASSA office: Take your ID and application details and the staff will check for you
  • Status Messages: Their Meanings & What Action to Take

Status Messages: What They Mean & What To Do

You will See One Of The following when you check your status:

  1. Approved: You successfully passed all checks, and a payment date should be set shortly
  2. Pending: Being reviewed — possibly needs checking of identity, income, or bank details
  3. Declined / Rejected: Did not satisfy the criteria or verification failed
  4. Reconsideration / Appeal: You have the right to challenge in a stipulated time
  5. Bank Details Pending: Missing or wrong bank info — payment cannot be processed

If your status indicates “Approved” but you have not received your payment by the expected date, there might be factors like bank delays, mismatches, or unverified records.

What to Do If Your Payment Is Late Or Missing

  • Make sure your bank account is not just active but also in your name, and that it is properly recorded
  • Your ID and contact details should match those in the bank
  • If you were approved but the payment is not done, file an appeal through the SRD website within the allowed period
  • Follow up on your status daily until the payment window closes
  • Do not pay anyone to make the process quicker — SASSA services are free of charge
